August 19, 2022

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

I never want to leave anyone out who deserves a High Five, and this week I want to start by adding a name I inadvertently missed last week. You’ll remember I told you about the flood in Lincoln Tower in the middle of the Country Music Superfest, and High Fived the people who handled the situation so well. That list should also include Bridget Hildreth. High (belated) Five, Bridget.

High Fives to everyone who has been helping to roll out the Scarlet carpet for our new and returning students. It’s been quite a week, and I’ve been hearing plenty of compliments on how well Move-In has been going.

Zia Ahmed and his Dining Services crew hosted the Board of Trustees and President’s Cabinet for a phenomenal event this week in the Ohio Union Instructional Kitchen. High Fives to Zia, David Wolf, Patrick Ionno, Katie Enciso, Joseph Gregor and student team members Noel Justice, James Smith, Lauren Monnin, Jeff Knoop, Miia Anderson and Ana Garcia-Escalante.

High Fives to Housing and Residence Education’s Toni Greenslade-Smith and Gabi Bockelman for all of their work with on-campus conferences this summer. A colleague says, “In a VERY busy time, amongst all of their other work, they took it on without complaint and did a smashing good job at it.”

Housing and Residence Education’s Pasha Sergeev and Gabe Edwards get High Fives for creating their new front desk website and training modules for team members.

High Fives go to Jen Nelson, Leah Wheeler, Dr. Xavier De Freitas, Peter Hansen and Dr. Rebecca Kapusta for helping with our Zippy Shell and On Campus Marketing (OCM) deliveries. As a result of their work, students who stored their belongings with Zippy Shell and/or ordered items from OCM found their items waiting in their room when they arrived.

Carly Taylor earns a High Five for successfully passing her TypeWell training examination to become a Transcriber for Disability Services. She completed over 10 weeks of training to achieve this milestone.

High Five to Joe Lines for developing a new program request form which is now live on the Student life Disability Services website and for his work in updating notetaking accommodation process information to get us ready for fall.

Disability Services’ Fakhtah Abdulla also gets a High Five for creating and piloting a new outreach and tracking model to improve follow up and support for students with attendance and deadline modification flex plan accommodations.

Finally, High Fives to everyone who will be involved with Welcome Week and getting this year off to a Scarlet and Great start. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when I’m out and about!
