Today's Update: Friday, April 3

April 3, 2020

Dear Student Life Team:

Happy Friday, and I hope you got to enjoy this wonderful sunshine. We’ve made it through another successful week.

You’ve heard me say many times how grateful I am for all that you have done and continue to do during this pandemic. I certainly notice the great work that is being accomplished, and this afternoon I want you to know that others are noticing as well.

A number of emails have come in touting our Student Life Super Heroes, so I’ll share some of those messages. This by no means captures everyone who is going above and beyond, but is just to remind you that your work is both appreciated and recognized. And feel free to send me more stories of great feats.

“Michaela Martin and Nick Fowler for keeping the food pantry up and going. They are working tireless to ensure our students have their basic needs met.”

“Christy Blessing for verifying, creating and processing tens of thousands of refund transactions.”

“The entire Housing and Res Life teams for herculean work behind the scenes that no one is seeing/aware of.”

“Kristen Hill for managing to move Career Counseling and Support Services front desk operation home - with many technical challenges.”

“Patrick Ionno for taking food to the students who are under quarantine.”

“The staff at Student Health Services for transporting (in a van with staff wearing PPE) at least two students to the Med Center for testing who screened positive for potential risk for COVID-19. Since the testing was “drive thru,” they sat in the line with the students until they could be screened.”

“Shannon Jones at Student Advocacy for dealing with an onslaught of emergency grant applications.”

“Aubrie Smith, John Cronin, Sean Stewart, Anne McDaniel, Jeremy Gabis, Stacey Renker, Ryan Lovell and a host of others for helping manage the massive move out scheduling process.”

“Deborah – housekeeper for 5th floor of Lincoln for going about her work with a smile on her face.”

“Taylor Miotke of the Ohio Union for all she is doing with the student staff, including special recognitions and video appreciations.”

“The entire Environmental Services and Maintenance teams for being diligent and thoughtful in all of the work that needed to be done in our buildings.”

“The Student Life Technology Services team has been amazing with getting everyone set up remotely, pushing information and training tools for people, and responding to challenges.”

As I said, this is just a small sampling of the appreciation people are showing for the amazing work that everyone in Student Life is doing. I am so proud of all of you. You are Scarlet and Great!
