Today's Update: Friday, April 23

April 23, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday!

Today’s High Five goes to you. Not you, collectively, but you, individually.

Because you (yes, and the rest of Student Life team individually) are the reason Ohio State has again been named one of the 30 Most Promising Place to Work in Student Affairs by ACPA-College Student Educators International and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education.

This is the 7th year we’ve received this honor, so we must be doing something right.

With a focus on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment, the research uses a web-based survey approach to examine categories including family friendliness, salary/benefits and professional development opportunities.

You can read more about it online:

It’s nice to get awards, and a shiny plaque on the wall is always a welcome addition. In this case, though, far more important is what this recognition says about the work you do every day.

You are the reason this is such a “promising place” to work. Without your dedication and commitment to our students and to your colleagues, we wouldn’t hold such an exalted position among our peers. This award isn’t about policies; it’s about people. And let me say again what I say any chance I get: the Ohio State Student Life team is the best there is.

High Five to you! I know you deserve it, and so does all of higher education as they see our name once again as one of the most promising places to work in student affairs.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend.
