Today's Update: Friday, April 22

April 22, 2022

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday!

I want to start with High Fives to all who have supported students in countless ways throughout the academic year. If you are looking for one more opportunity, feel free to sign up to help at Commencement. We need people for both rehearsal on Friday, May 6, and Commencement on Sunday, May 8. If you are available, email Daren Lehman.44.

Those at the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences-Wooster get High Fives for hosting our Executive Leadership Team this week on their campus. I was disappointed that I had a change in schedule and couldn’t make it, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the visit and the team members there. High Fives to Dean Cathann Kress, Dr. Kristina Boone, Dr. Anne Dorrance, Dr. Carri Gerber, Kelly Kyser, Jodie Holava, Caitlin Blake and Penny Nemitz. The group also got an amazing tour from student tour guides Kylie Ramirez and Landen Tull.

High Fives to several people who helped put on a memorable student engagement event involving Buckeye Leadership Fellows, including Ericka Hall, Learry Miller, Patrick Edwards, Patrick Ionno, Brittany Crall and the student staff at Sloopy’s.

I want to join Ohio Union Operations and Events in giving a High Five to the BuckID team for a fast turnaround on a last-minute client need. As director Jeff Pelletier said, “It was kind of like needing to run upstairs to borrow a cup of flour, and they were quick to help us out!”

Several people get High Fives for their response to an overheated sterno at a recent event. Their rapid and calm reaction kept everything under control. High Fives to Building Manager Stephanie Carr, Thomas Monte of Catering and Otis Palmer for coordinating the clean-up by the EVS team.

High Five to Brooke Olson of Student Activities and the student org team for hosting the inaugural Transition Dinner for student org leaders. It brought together nearly 70 student leaders to engage in conversations and share resources to make their annual leadership transitions more successful and support the sustainability of their groups.

High Five to Stacey Renker, Preston Tartt and Mindy Clagg for their ongoing support our university initiatives and events over the past few weeks.

High Five to Dr. Anne McDaniel, Ben Raines and Dilna Cama for their partnership in joining me to share updates with Ohio State’s Alumni Advisory Council. Also, special thanks to Kelley Griesmer, proud alum and President and CEO of The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, who faithfully serves as the Student Life representative on the council.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend!
