Today's Update: Friday, April 2

April 2, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday!

One of the things that makes our Student Life team special is the degree of collaboration that occurs between departments to support our students. It makes me proud that the Multicultural Center and Counseling and Consultation Service collaborated so well to support students in the wake of recent incidents of hate and violence around the country.

Career Counseling and Support Services’ Dr. Ana Berrios earns a High Five for the curriculum she developed for the Discovery Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP). The program promotes inclusion and diversity in the biomedical research workforce.

High Fives to Tess Smith and Carly Zeiger of Buckeye Careers for planning and facilitating six engaging Student Employment Experience (SEE) workshops. Over 65 students participated in each of these workshops. Also, High Five to those around campus who helped present at these sessions.

Tonya Dawson, Dustin Beech, Krystal Vielman-Diaz, Jaden Royal and Brian Menard each get High Fives for their support of the Ohio Union Activities Board’s many programs while also advising the current OUAB executive board and training the incoming group.

High Fives to Sloane Trusso, Jordan Hackmann, Barb Kefalas, Annie Bingman and Heather Dwyer of Residence Life for their recent handling of a difficult situation. Their support of students and parents makes a huge difference.

High Fives to the entire Student Advocacy team, including director Kim Pachell. Their unwavering support of our campus community is so appreciated, especially because many of their efforts take place behind the scenes.

High Fives to Amy Livchak, Kidron Stamper, Karen Leuthold, Kathleen Clemons-Keller, Tamara Smith, Jodie Holava, Korey Ayers, Jennifer Racer and Laura Norman for the great work they are doing on our regional campuses to plan activities for students – even making the most of our current circumstances by sharing their virtual programs with students on all campuses.

The facilitators for the March Commitment and Action Planning Team (CAPT) lunch and learns get High Fives for sharing their knowledge, passion and time: Melissa Jacobs, Dr. Xavier De Freitas, Pasha Sergeev and Jonathan Adams.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend!
