LEAD Series: Get to Know Your True Colors

This workshop is designed to aid participants in understanding their own personalities and how they might complement or conflict with others. All students may benefit from this understanding as it is useful in leadership, relationship and teamwork settings.

Continuing the Legacy: MLK Jr. Week Opening Ceremony

6 - 7 p.m.

Join Pay It Forward for their virtual Opening Ceremony of Martin Luther King, Jr. Week! In collaboration with the Hale Black Cultural Center, we have curated performances that will honor the legacy of Dr. King. Special appearances will be made by Dr. Melissa Shivers and Lawrence Williamson!

40 Acres and a Mule: Wealth, Legacy and Social Change

7 - 8 p.m.

This session will explore the "legacy" of wealth in America and its economic and racial implications. Hosts will discuss the importance of generational wealth as it relates to Social Justice and Social Change. The panel will dissect the broken promise of "40 Acres and a Mule" and will discuss wealth strategies and tips. The intent is to encourage community stability, economic empowerment and FREEDOM.

Develop leadership skills, get connected and give back to the OSU community by joining a Student Activities Cohort. Attend an information session to learn more about Student Activities Cohorts. Applications are open NOW through February 14 for all five Student Activities Cohorts: Buck-I-SERV Board, OSU Votes, Pay It Forward, Student Leadership Advocates and Student Organization Success Coaches.

The Letter from Birmingham Jail: Applications to Modern Day Advocacy and Activism

Join Dr. Hasan Jeffries, Associate Professor of History and Kirwan Institute Faculty Affiliate as we revisit and analyze Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Letter from Birmingham Jail. Originally published in June of 1963, Dr. King’s words continue to be relevant amidst growing racial tensions in modern day America.
