Leadership Update: Dr. Qiana Smith and Andrew Crow

April 9, 2021

Two amazing leaders will be transitioning from interim roles into permanent director positions.

Dr. Qiana Smith has accepted the role of director of Residence Life, and Andrew Crow has agreed to assume the role of senior director of Student Life Facility Operations.

Both have been serving as interim directors for quite some time, and they have been instrumental in Student Life’s response to the pandemic. They have done an extraordinary job as leaders in difficult times, and I am very pleased that they have accepted these important roles, effective April 26.

Qiana has nearly 20 years of experience in residential life, including student support, programming, operations and staff development. She will lead the day-to-day operations of the residential communities on all Ohio State campuses with housing inventory. She earned a BS in sociology from Central Michigan University and both a MA in student affairs administration and a PhD in higher, adult and lifelong education from Michigan State University. She has worked in Residence Life at Ohio State since 2016.

Andrew will lead Student Life Facility Operations, providing building and mechanical, environmental, energy management and sustainability services for all Student Life buildings, grounds and departments. He has a BA from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, and an MA in Public Policy and Management from Ohio State’s John Glenn College of Public Policy. He earned a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (C.E.F.P.). He has worked in the Office of Student Life since 2007.
