Dear Buckeyes,

The leaves are changing, football is back and we are in the swing of the autumn semester. As you are settling into this academic year, I want to remind you that across the university, faculty and staff members are working hard to help you have an extraordinary Ohio State experience. One area that we are actively working to enhance is safety on and near campus. Check the link below for a list of safety resources and stop by the Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement (OCCSE) office on the third floor of the Ohio Union to pick up safety devices, like a personal safety alarm.

Stay Safe, Buckeyes

Safety has many different meanings, from physical security to a sense of belonging. The entire university is dedicated to supporting and enhancing your safety and well-being on- and off-campus. Discover safety resources.

Things To Do

Getting involved is more than going to events - it's also giving back to your community. You can give back by joining the Student Life Pay It Forward cohort, BuckeyeThon or one of many service-based student orgs. Get involved.

No matter where you are on your wellness journey, the Student Wellness Center's Wellness Assessment can help get you connected to resources across campus. And, if you complete the assessment during October you could win prizes like gift cards and BuckID cash. Take the Wellness Assessment.

O-H! The places you'll go

Big city? Big things to do. You can take advantage of everything Columbus has to offer, like cheering on the Columbus Crew SC during one of their matches, by using the Discount Tickets (D-Tix) program. Learn more about D-Tix.

Fighting food insecurity

No Buckeye goes hungry thanks to the Buckeye Food Alliance food pantry. The pantry is located in Lincoln Tower and is open Mondays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4 to 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Access the food pantry.

Did you know?

Buckeyes who complete an internship during their academic experience are 2.8 times more likely to have already accepted a job at graduation. Student Life's Buckeye Careers team has a wide range of resources to get you ready for your professional next step. View Career Resources.

Let me introduce you to Dr. Shawnté Elbert, Associate Vice President for Health and Well-being. Dr. Elbert supports Counseling and Consultation Service, Recreational Sports, Student Health Services and the Student Wellness Center. Get to know Dr. Elbert.

High fives

This month I'm sending a high five to the newest member of our Student Life team. Isabel B. supports operations for the Senior Vice President office. Thank you Isabel for all the ways you are already contributing to the extraordinary student and staff experience! Give a high five.

Wishing you a Scarlet and Great October. O-H!
