Today's Update: Wednesday, November 4

Dear Student Life Team, Election Day tends to be a long day…and night. And on years when the final outcome of some races isn’t clear, it can make for a long week, too. And life in the time of COVID is already tough enough.

That’s why I’m calling today a special Wellness Wednesday and encouraging everyone to remember to do something nice for YOU. It’s been a beautiful day, so maybe you can grab a few last minutes of sunshine. Or perhaps this evening instead of watching hours of news updates, take some time to watch an episode of your favorite show. Call a friend or family member who always seems to make you laugh. Grab that book you’ve been meaning to start. Treat yourself to a special snack (I’m choosing ice cream).

I know what I’m suggesting isn’t rocket science and I’ve shared similar suggestions in the past. I just think it’s helpful to remind people that it’s okay to just STOP, take a moment (or five) and breathe. Your mind and body will thank you…and you just might set a good example for someone else. Today is a good day to be Scarlet and Great to YOURSELF.
