Join Ohio State's Office of Student Life and Coca-Cola in "The Art of Recycling," a recycling fair and art competition where students create works of art from recycled materials. The event will be held Wednesday, September 18, from noon - 4 p.m. at the RPAC.
Ohio State students can enter art in two categories, Wearable Art or Free Standing Art, both relating to the theme of "100 years of Rec Sports" to celebrate our centennial. All students are welcome to watch the competition and fashion show, as well as attend the recycling fair.
In the Free Standing Art category, students working in teams of five to 10 people will be provided with 100 green and white recycled Coca-Cola bottles at noon on Wednesday, September 18, and will have until 4 p.m. to work on their sculptures. Mandatory dimensions and rules can be found here. The winning team will receive a $50 certificate, and all participants will receive a Coca-Cola T-shirt!
In the Wearable Art category, students must create wearable art made of 50% recycled, recyclable, or reused materials. Artwork must completed before noon on Wednesday, September 18, and one team member must present and wear the art piece during the fashion show at 4 p.m. at the RPAC. Models get free hair and make-up done by Aveda. Read specific rules. The first and second place teams will receive gift certificates from Rag-O-Rama.
For both categories, teams must register and submit brief descriptions of the sculpture to Carlos Lugo by Wednesday, September 11.
All entries will be judged on creativity, use of Coca-Cola products (for sculpture competition only), construction, school spirit, and representation of submission.
