Join OUAB as we welcome renowned spoken word poet Sarah Kay to campus! Sarah will be performing some of her work, as well as speaking about the power that spoken word has.
Sarah Kay began performing her phenomenal spoken-word poetry when she was only 14 years old-quickly becoming a fixture at the famous Bowery Poetry Club in New York City. Sarah was a featured speaker at the 2011 TED Conference, on "The Rediscovery of Wonder," which has been seen by over two million people on YouTube. She uses the power of spoken word to inspire creativity and self-empowerment in others.
Sarah is the founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E., a charitable organization that celebrates and inspires self-expression in youth through spoken-word poetry.
Sarah has performed her poetry in venues across the United States, including the Lincoln Center, the Tribeca Film Festival, and the United Nations, where she was a featured performer for the launch of the 2004 World Youth Report.
