Dr. Theresa Runstedtler is an Assistant Professor of American Studies at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). Her research and teaching interests include the intersection of race, gender, and resistance in popular culture. In Jack Johnson, Rebe Sojourner, Dr.Runstedtler constructs a global history of race, gender, and empire in the early twentieth century, while highlighting Jack Johnson, the first African American World Heavyweight Champion (1008-1915), in his public challenge to White supremacy at home and abroad.
