Joining the Navy six months before Pearl Harbor, Woody was dedicated to serving his country. He served his country for five years, before being honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander. Woody honored his military experience by naming plays and operating his team after notable military icons. To honor Woody, and to thank the Navy ROTC students, the Office of Student Life will host a breakfast on Thursday, February 14. This event is by invitation only.
Join the Office of Student Life in celebrating the legacy of Anne and Woody Hayes this February, which marks 100 years since Woody’s birth on February 14, 1913. Anne & Woody Hayes Celebration Week will feature events and activities honoring one of Ohio State’s most-loved couples. From their everyday life to gridiron triumphs, the week will focus on the stories, traditions, and contributions of two people whose influence on Buckeye Nation remains strong to this day.
The Office of Student Life’s events are part of a university-wide celebration of Anne and Woody Hayes. The main university will hold a celebration dinner on February 15, 2013. Other offices, including University Archives and Thompson Library, will also hold events.
