Location: Hitchcock Hall - Room 131
Just over three and a half years ago, a massive earthquake hit Haiti and claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands. Just three hours before the earthquake hit, Britney Gengel, who was in the country on a service mission, sent a text to her parents that she had found her calling and wanted to build an orphanage there for the children. The earthquake took Britney's life that day, but that final text she sent to her parents inspired hope. Britney's parents made her last wish come true, through the nonprofit of Be Like Brit. The orphanage is now home to around 30 children, and is continually growing. Len and Cherylann Gengel, Britney's parents, will be at Ohio State on October 21, at 7 pm, in Hitchcock Hall, room 131, to talk about their 'Heartache and Hope in Haiti.' Anyone and everyone is invited to hear this wonderful story of hope and compassion for the children of Haiti! For more information, visit the program's Facebook event.
