Today's Update: Friday, March 11

March 11, 2022

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday, and happy spring break!

High Five to you if have plans to spend some time in the coming week on your wellbeing by recharging and reconnecting with yourself.

Our next High Fives this week go to the entire Student Wellness Center team, plus Josh Slaven, Ali Hinkle, Jon Plante and Timothy Marshfield, for working so hard to get the new Student Wellness Center website live. So much work goes in behind the scenes on projects like this – it takes a team effort!

High Fives to Ahmed Hosni, Brandon Horton and Mackenzie Hogan from the Student Wellness Center for working tirelessly to develop new alcohol prevention programs to truly meet students where they are in regard to their alcohol use.

A colleague suggested a High Five to Nabil Shehata of Environmental Services at RPAC. Here is what the nomination says: “Nabil is always a pleasure to work with. Nabil is hardworking and extremely supportive of his staff. Nabil takes great pride in his role in Recreational Sports and every time we walk through the RPAC it SHINES! Thank you, Nabil, for all of your hard work and dedication to EVS and Recreational Sports!” High Five, Nabil!

High Five to the entire Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) team for hosting an insightful STEP Faculty Mentor lecture featuring Sherry Turkle and providing this important professional development opportunity for our faculty mentors.

The Multicultural Center’s Angie Wellman and Jaden Royal get High Fives for their dedication and guidance to the student planning committee for the 44th African American Heritage Festival (AAHF).

The MCC is grateful, too, asking me to give High Fives to Lee Deskins, Lisa Morton, Liz Ziegler and Kathy Cubert from Fiscal for assisting with the many Workday requests that needed to be processed to support the AAHF.

Last, but certainly not least, kudos to Travis Barnhart, Dan Hausman and Stacy Smith for helping me get a special student invitation out this week. Their creativity, speediness and expertise is always appreciated.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend, and spring break!
